Eric Lagally, Assistant Professor in the Michael Smith Laboratories and the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, was recently selected as a Peter Wall Institute for Advanced Studies Early Career Scholar. The program aims to bring outstanding early-career researchers together to share ideas and research approaches. Scholars are selected based on their research accomplishments and potential and fitting with the mandate of the Institute and multidisciplinary research.
Dr. Lagally is among the 10 scholars selected on an annual basis.
Prior to joining UBC in 2006, Dr. Lagally performed postdoctoral work at the University of California-Santa Barbara. His current research interests are in analytical biotechnology, particularly in massively parallel microsystems for affinity reagent isolation and in-vitro evolution, and integrated microsystems for detection of bacterial pathogens.
