Graduate Seminar (CHBE 598 - Winter Term 1 and 2)

All faculty members and graduate students have a chance to get together and learn about their colleagues’ thesis projects. It is a requirement for every masters and doctorate student to present before they graduate. The event provides a great opportunity for academic minds to mingle and students to practice their presentation skills. Professors provide feedback to the students to encourage improvement.

Since 2005, there is a greater incentive than just the satisfaction of impressing the department. A prize is awarded to the most deserving speaker, generously endowed by the 6th International Conference on Gas-Liquid and Gas-Liquid-Solid Reactor Engineering to promote the importance of quality presentations. The seminar is open to all CHBE students and faculty, as well as other interested researchers from the UBC community.

Distinguished Speaker Series

The Series was launched in 2005 with the ambitious goal to allow CHBE students the opportunity to learn about the most recent technological and career-related developments in chemical and biological engineering profession, and participate in advanced research and innovation. Department invites distinguished industry leaders, academic and/or alumnus to speak on a variety of topics within the profession. [More details...]

The seminars are open to all CHBE students and faculty. However some seminars are focused on a particular research area, which may be of interest to individuals from the UBC community - we would appreciate advance notice if you are non-CHBE researcher and would like to attend.
